Set up of a PC

Theoretical course with practical content on a real machine.

Target group: Automatic lathe setters, machine operators
Duration: 5 days (Mon 8:30am to Fri 2:30pm)

Prerequisites

Experience in the area of turning technology and handling of multi-spindle automatics, plus basic knowledge of the operation of CNC machines.

Learning objectives

Basic comprehension of the method of operation and equipment of the PC series. Procedure for retooling and setting up a new workpiece on the machine. Initial operation and optimisation of NC programs. Explanation of operating concepts.

  • Basic structure and method of operation of the PC series
  • Menu navigation and machine operation with the user software SICS
  • Message texts and fault elimination, tele-service
  • Tool system and methods of presetting, cooling lubricant concepts
  • Basic principles of a machining sequence, determination of part-production times, structure of setup plan
  • Standard and auxiliary devices and the corresponding production processes
  • Structure of machine configuration and NC program
  • Processing and optimization of workpiece programs, analysis aids
  • Traversing fields and collision situations, setup variations and alignment procedures
  • Scope and function of auxiliary units
