Addressed group of persons: Machine operators
Prerequisites: Experience in the area of turning technology. Professional experience in the handling of multi-spindle automatics.
Learning objective:
Basic comprehension of the method of operation and equipment of the G series. Safe machine operation (user interface and message texts), safe machining sequence and tool change.
The following learning content is presented:
Basic machine
- Basic structure and method of operation of the G series
- Explanation of the user interface and message texts
- Changing and cleaning chucks, collets, feed fingers, clamping and feed tubes
- Explanation of clamping and feed rate in the indexing area
- Changing cams and explanation of function (mechanical)
- Tool systems, tool presetting
- Basic principles of a machining sequence, determination of part-production times, structure of setup plan
- Carrying out independent tool change
- Managing NC programs and making minor alterations independently (SINUMERIK 840D)
- Moving machine to home position with simulated fault
- Procedure for switching machine on and off
- Aligning quill and tool to work spindle (boring)
- Online test: Machine – AHS Cologne

Addressed group of persons: Automatic lathe setters, machine operators, CNC programmers, production planners
Prerequisites: Experience in the area of turning technology. Professional experience in the handling of multi-spindle automatics and knowledge of NC programming (DIN 66025).
Learning objective:
Basic comprehension of the method of operation and equipment of the G series. Procedure for retooling and setting up a new workpiece on the machine. Explanation of operating concepts. Aids for process design and integration of CNC operations.
The following learning content is presented:
- Basic structure and method of operation of the G series
- Menu navigation of HMI / AHS and machine operation
- Basic principles of a machining sequence, determination of part-production times, structure of setup plan
- Selection and configuration of cams and change gears
- Tool system and methods of presetting, cooling lubricant concepts
- Alignment procedures, setting workpiece dimensions
- Standard and auxiliary devices and the corresponding production processes
- Integration of CNC devices and their programming
- Scope and function of auxiliary units

- G series – service and maintenance/ mechanical system
Addressed group of persons: Maintenance and repair personnel
Prerequisites: Qualified specialist in the area of production engineering, system technology or industrial mechanical systems.
Learning objective:
Basic comprehension of the structure and function of the Schütte multi-spindle automatics. Detecting, analysing and eliminating malfunctions, plus preventive and condition-oriented maintenance.

- G series – service/electrical system
Addressed group of persons: Maintenance and service personnel
Prerequisites: A prerequisite for participation in this course is thorough knowledge of SINUMERIK Solution Line, Step7, SIMODRIVE/SINAMICS and the bus systems ASi-bus and Profibus. A further requirement for course participants is prior attendance at a SINUMERIK 840D Solution Line training course at SIEMENS.
The course is designed for electrically skilled persons.
Learning objective:
Independent and systematic troubleshooting. Comprehension of hardware and software.
Replacement of electrical components.
