Mechatronics Technician
If you’re interested in the intersection of mechanics, electronics, and information systems and enjoy working with high-tech machinery and computer technology, then a career as a mechatronics technician might be just right for you.
What does a mechatronics technician actually do?

As a mechatronics engineer at Schütte, you’ll work on innovative concepts and master complex systems. Your expertise is in demand wherever mechanics and electronics converge—whether in ABS systems or modern industrial plants.
You combine skills from mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, physics, and mathematics. This makes you versatile across industries: You assemble complex machines, maintain them, and master electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
By the end of your training, you will be able to assemble complete systems and precisely test their functions. This makes you ideally equipped for the development, production, and operation of future-oriented technical systems.
We’ve put together some information here to help you determine whether the industrial clerk apprenticeship is the right fit for you and whether you meet the necessary requirements.
Ines Schlömer - Human Resources Department
During the three-and-a-half-year training program, you’ll attend vocational school in block sessions, meaning you’ll spend several consecutive weeks solely at school, where you’ll learn the theoretical subjects.
After that, you’ll spend a few weeks back at the company, learning the practical aspects of the trade in the training workshop and through projects with colleagues.
As mentioned, you should have an interest in technical processes, manual dexterity, and good spatial awareness.
You must also have at least a Type 10B secondary school diploma, as well as good grades in math, German, and physics. In addition, you should enjoy working in a team.
All applicants first receive a confirmation of receipt of their documents. After a preliminary selection based on the information in the applications, we invite suitable candidates to an initial in-person interview with the trainers and the HR department.
This is followed by another appointment during which the company is introduced, including a tour of the facilities. For technical trades, you’ll also get to know the training workshop. If you’re still certain you want to start your apprenticeship at Schütte and we are too, you’ll receive a confirmation and the corresponding apprenticeship contract very shortly.
That always depends on the specific apprenticeship. For all of them, however, you should have good grades and be open to new things; team spirit and commitment are also required
Depending on the apprenticeship program, it lasts 3–3.5 years. For the industrial clerk program, the duration can be shortened from 3 to 2.5 years with the appropriate high school diploma.
The training allowance is governed by the IG Metall collective bargaining agreement. Of course, salary plays a major role. So don’t hesitate to ask about it.
Training always begins in September. You should apply about a year in advance.
For sustainability reasons, we now only accept applications via email.
We have a specific number of available spots in each training program every year. These are always listed on our website. If there are no open positions listed there, it means we have already filled all available spots.
In that case, we can consider an unsolicited application for the coming year at the earliest.
If you’ve received an invitation to an interview, you should research Schütte and the training program you’re interested in beforehand. You’ll find everything you need to know on our website.
Think about your strengths and weaknesses and the reason behind your career choice. A tip from us: Practice the interview with your parents or friends. It might feel a bit strange, but it helps.
If you’ve received an invitation to an interview, that means we’ve already liked your profile. So you’ve cleared the first hurdle. If you’ve prepared well, there’s no reason to be nervous. Just be yourself.
We want to get to know you better during the interview, and you should take advantage of this opportunity too. After all, we both need to be sure that both the training program and we as an employer are a good fit for you. So you should also use this opportunity to ask us anything that interests you.
We try to support you as best we can right from the application stage. If you still have questions, you can always send us an email at: personal@schuette.de or feel free to call us. We look forward to hearing from you.
