Freedom Redefined
More complex workpieces in smaller batch sizes, shorter product lifecycles, and a highly competitive environment are what define industrial manufacturing processes today. Responding quickly and flexibly to market demands is therefore essential for your business success.

The CX Generation CNC Multi-Spindle Lathe
- Tidy, freely accessible workspace
- No drives, slide guides, lubrication and cooling lines, or cables within the work area
- Excellent accessibility, unobstructed chip fall
- Extremely easy changeover and tool retrofitting
- Free selection of spindle speed
- Expansion of the machining range on the second side of the workpiece through precise transfer and up to three additional spindles
- In complete machining, thanks to the ability to integrate C and Y axes in all positions

You Set the Cycle and Speed
The heart of the CX, the spindle drum, is precisely positioned in place by a high-precision three-part Hirth lock. Together with the strictly thermosymmetrical design of the spindle housing, this guarantees maximum process reliability across all spindle positions.
- Process reliability through thermosymmetry
- Liquid-cooled motor spindles with high dynamics and torque
- Precise digital speed control, C-axis operation, and spindle positioning
- Independent spindle speeds and optimal cutting speeds improve surface finish, tool life, and chip breaking
- Through-feed spindle drum
- Decentralized drive controllers, resulting in no moving cables, a minimum of slip rings, and reduced wear and susceptibility to failure

You Design the Processes
With the innovative axis design of the cross-machining units—the first of its kind used in multi-spindle machines worldwide—a concept has been realized that combines the advantages of a rigid slide design with a flexible machine configuration.
- Rigid cross-slide units as standard – flexibly configurable with fixed and driven tools
- Fully CNC cross slides in all positions
- Turret functionality for follow-up and sister tools
- Drilling and milling with C and Y axes
- Modular conversion and retrofit options in a modular system
- No drives, cables, etc. within the work area
- Hydrostatic guide with excellent damping properties, less tool wear

Stable, precise tool holders and short machining times are essential for efficient face machining. The CX allows simultaneous machining of the workpiece’s circumference and face in any spindle position.
- Short machining times thanks to simultaneous machining of the circumference and end face
- Absolute precision thanks to backlash-free feed
- Linear force flow of the main cutting forces along the longitudinal axis prevents bending moments on the tool holder
- Modular system of turret and cross-slide units
- Easy changeover and retrofitting in the freely accessible work area
- Excellent accessibility
- Face machining with indexing tools and Y-axis

Discover the Other Side
The CX, available in seven- or nine-spindle configurations, opens up a whole new dimension in machining the rear side of workpieces. Complex workpieces can now be fully machined in a single operation without leaving the machine.
- Precise transfer of the workpiece via the proven HSK quick-change interface
- Machining of the workpiece’s rear side on three additional full-featured spindles
- The workpiece is securely clamped and transported further in its clamping fixture without any loss of accuracy
- All functionalities (C and Y axes, polygon turning, turret) are also available for the second side
- Complete machining of the workpieces
- The work area remains clear and easily accessible

Eight Spindles and Their Variants
The ACX can always be precisely adapted to the requirements of the respective workpiece range. It thus covers the requirements of both complex and simpler workpieces with a limited scope of machining.
- 8 main spindles for distributing extensive machining of the first workpiece side across 8 stations.
- For more extensive machining on the second side of the workpiece, the optional second counter-spindle comes into play. It allows the machining of the rear side to be divided across two machine cycles
- The double-cycle mode is the optimal solution for workpieces requiring minimal machining. This allows two workpieces to be machined simultaneously, each passing through 4 machining stations

Every Workpiece has the Right Clamping Solution
Regardless of the choice of raw material—bars, bar sections, cast or forged blanks—the flexibility of the CX is also reflected in the available clamping concepts. The freely selectable configuration as a chuck, bar, or magazine machine allows the machine to be adapted to a wide range of production concepts.
- Flexible machining of bars, bar sections, forged or cast blanks
- Material clamping in collets or chucks on the main and counter spindles
- Maximum machinable part diameter 51 mm (chuck clamping) or 160 mm (collet clamping)
- A wide range of material transfer options, from raw material supply to finished part removal
- Spring stop / active ejection for magazine parts

Workpiece Transfer from Raw Material to Finished Part
The CX also offers intelligent solutions for material transfer through the machine. The requirements of the machine’s different configurations—tongs or chuck—require adaptable material feed and workpiece removal options.
In this regard, the modular machine design of the CX generation allows for the specific characteristics of raw material (e.g., bars, bar sections, forged or cast blanks), workpiece weight and size, as well as material ejection (random, directed, or damage-free).
- Integrated material feed
- Precise material feeding from the work area
- Variable workpiece removal via chutes or conveyor belts
- Directed, damage-free, and production-time-parallel discharge into dual palletizing systems
- Handling of heavy workpieces via the machine axis
- Neutral machine interface for flexible configuration of part feeding and removal
A System That Keeps You Flexible
We have also implemented the concept of freedom in the CX’s modular tooling system. In both longitudinal and cross-machining, tooling units with one or more stationary or driven tools—or a combination thereof—can be used.
- Modular tool carrier system
- Integrated internal coolant supply for stationary and driven tools (suitable for high pressure)
- Precise quick-change interfaces facilitate presetting
- Compact tool carriers ensure unobstructed chip removal and a clear overview
- Highest repeatability during tool changes
- Simple and convenient setup

Additional Equipment Expands the Range of Applications
The CX-generation multi-spindle automatic lathes are already highly versatile machines in their basic configuration, featuring a CNC cross slide with longitudinal and transverse axes, as well as optional Y and C axes. With standard accessories for special machining tasks, the range of applications for this series can be expanded almost indefinitely.
Complete machining of turned parts with milling, gear cutting, etc., complex and extensive front and rear machining, highest precision, and reproducible quality combined with extremely short machining times can thus be achieved on our CX-generation multi-spindle automatic lathes.

- All positioning and feed axes are CNC-controlled
- Internal coolant supply to the machining point
- Use of quick-change turning or rolling tools
- All auxiliary devices are fully interchangeable with one another within their working range, even for use in second-side machining

Diversity Always Under Control
The CX control system makes no compromises. It executes a wide variety of machining programs reliably, precisely, and in the shortest cycle times. Prior to machining, it supports users with intuitive dialogs, templates, and information during setup, configuration, and operation, as well as during maintenance and service of the CX multi-spindle automatic lathes. In parallel with these tasks, control-integrated safety functions protect both the operator and the machine from damage.
- Fast control for short cycle times
- Precise synchronization and dialog-guided configuration of all positions
- Optimized control of loading and unloading
- SICS consistently for the PC and the machine
