Commercial Apprenticeship
Have you enjoyed taking charge of organizing things at school or in your personal life? Are you very communicative, always open to new ideas, interested in other languages, and have you always been good with numbers? Then an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk might be the right choice for you.

You will gain experience in all key administrative departments of our company:
- Materials Management & Purchasing: Determine needs and process orders.
- Sales & Marketing: Supporting customers, selling products, and understanding marketing.
- Finance: Reviewing accounting records and analyzing key performance indicators.
- Human Resources: Plan staff deployment and support new hires.
In the process, you’ll learn the entire workflow from order entry to final billing and will occasionally negotiate with external partners such as banks or retailers. Upon completion, you’ll have a comprehensive overview of Schütte’s operations and will be able to make an informed decision about which area you’d like to pursue your career in.
We’ve put together some information here to help you determine whether the industrial clerk apprenticeship is right for you and whether you meet the necessary requirements.
Ines Schlömer - Human Resources Department
During the three-year training program, you’ll attend vocational school in block sessions, meaning you’ll spend several consecutive weeks solely at school, where you’ll learn the theoretical subjects. After that, you’ll return to the company for a few weeks to gain a thorough understanding of the key processes in the various departments.
As mentioned, you should enjoy planning and organizing, have an interest in purchasing and sales, and be open-minded and communicative.
You should have a high school diploma or vocational diploma, along with good grades in math, English, and German. All applicants first receive a confirmation that their documents have been received. After a preliminary selection based on the information in the applications, we invite suitable candidates to an initial in-person interview with the trainers and the HR department.
This is followed by another appointment during which the company is introduced, including a tour of the facilities. For technical trades, you’ll also get to know the training workshop. If you’re still certain you want to start your apprenticeship at Schütte and we are too, you’ll receive a confirmation and the corresponding apprenticeship contract very shortly.
That always depends on the specific apprenticeship. For all of them, however, you should have good grades and be open to new things; team spirit and commitment are also required
Depending on the apprenticeship program, it lasts 3–3.5 years. For the industrial clerk program, the duration can be shortened from 3 to 2.5 years with the appropriate high school diploma.
The training allowance is governed by the IG Metall collective bargaining agreement. Of course, salary plays a major role. So don’t hesitate to ask about it.
Training always begins in September. You should apply about a year in advance.
In the interest of sustainability, we now only accept applications via email.
We have a specific number of open positions available in each training field and each year. These are always listed on our website. If no open positions are listed there, it means we have already filled all available positions. In that case, we can consider an unsolicited application for the following year at the earliest.
If you’ve received an invitation to an interview, you should research Schütte and the apprenticeship you’re applying for beforehand. You’ll find everything you need to know on our website. Think about your strengths and weaknesses, and the reason behind your career choice. A tip from us: Practice the interview with your parents or friends. It might feel a bit awkward, but it helps.
If you’ve received an invitation to an interview, that means we’ve already liked your profile. So you’ve cleared the first hurdle. If you’ve prepared well, there’s no reason to be nervous. Just be yourself.
We want to get to know you better during the interview, and you should take advantage of this opportunity too. After all, we both need to be sure that both the training program and we as an employer are a good fit for you. So you should also use this opportunity to ask us anything that interests you.
We try to support you as best we can right from the application stage. If you still have questions, you can always send us an email at: personal@schuette.de or feel free to call us. We look forward to hearing from you.
