Set up of a SCX

Theoretical course with practical content on a real machine.

Target group: Automatic lathe setters
Duration: 5 days (Mon 08:30am to Fri 2:30pm)

Prerequisites

Skills in the area of turning technology and handling of multi-spindle automatic automatics, plus experience in the operation of CNC machines.

Learning objectives

Basic comprehension of the method of operation and equipment of the SCX series. Procedure for retooling and setting up a new workpiece on the machine. Initial operation and adaptation of NC programs. Explanation of operating concepts.

Training content

  • Basic structure and method of operation of the SCX series
  • Menu navigation and machine operation with the user software SICS
  • Basic principles of a machining sequence, determination of part-production time, setup plan and tool list
  • Tool concept and methods of presetting, cooling lubricant concepts
  • Setup library and corresponding production processes
  • Opposed spindle concepts, rear-side machining and alignment procedures
  • Structure and initial operation of NC programs
  • Processing and optimization of workpiece programs, analysis aids
  • Compensation strategies (wear, thermal growth, etc.), process monitoring
  • Traversing fields and collision situations, tool turret
  • Material flow and workpiece handling, palletising unit
  • Scope and function of auxiliary units (hydraulic, pneumatics, cooling lubricant)
  • Message texts and fault elimination, tele-service
